Most of these were done for my MA Project at Falmouth University, where I created a series of illustrations based on Edgar Allan Poe’s short story, The Masque of the Red Death. For one particular stage of my project I focused on doing my own interpretations of the costume and theater designs of Inigo Jones. In trying to study and recreate the style of Baroque/ Mannerist designers, I ditched digital tools in favour of the old fashioned, traditional materials used by artists centuries ago. Dip pens, quills, and inks prevail in this regard, although I also used the modern day equivalent of a silverpoint.
